August 31, 2009 My daughter and I relocate to Hudson Falls NY, ahead of my Husband who needed to tie up all the loose ends back in Brunswick Maine.
A Job and a Home to find was my main objective during this time. Retired from the military at this point and our last move I hope before I go to rest or until the New System of Things takes place and I become one of the first humans to experience no death, and Yes it would be absolutely amazing to be able to have my babies by my side during this transition.
I don't remember what brought me down that road which is the one in the picture that heads this page. Corinth Rd. Queensbury NY. Just up that road is a pet shop called Happy Tails. There inside was the Tri-Colored King Charles Cavalier. "Oh My!" 12 years waiting to see in person the Dog of my dreams. I had to have him. The owner was very accommodating as I needed to have him stay until we found a home of our own and she said yes that would be fine. On Dec 10, 2009 we took possession of our new home and our first ever King Charles Cavalier "Prince Frederick".
What I came to know by having Fred was that there were others. 4 varieties all together. Tri, Blenheim, Black/Tan and Ruby. Little did I know I was about to Fall and Fall Hard.
In the words of Ray Stevens we would say "Fred you are a good Dog". That was actually how Fred got his name.
He was indeed a good dog. He was so cute and as he grew he became so Beautiful! He was warm, friendly and Loyal. He would follow me everywhere I went inside the house. We have had to remind him that we do have boundaries and that when it came to humans using the bathroom, it is not a spectator sport for our furry friends.
Speaking of the potty, We have found that no matter what breed of dog you have Crate Training is the best way to potty train. The crate also gives them a space of their own, where they can retreat to, that is safe for them. We also crate them in the evenings. A routine for them which also adds a sense of security.
We would play with him and take him for walks and before long we were all in love.
As we discovered our new area we noticed an ice cream shop just a short walking distance from our home and on the way to where ever we chose to walk to with Fred. Rookies Cookies n Cream Ice Cream Shop right on the main drag in Hudson Falls.
Now for those of you who may think that dogs are just some dumb animal well I'm here to tell you different.
One day while on our walk we were slowly approaching the area we would normally cross if we had decided it was a great day for a treat for us all. We had no intentions of stopping today as the Fall season had come and Rookies had closed till Spring of next year. Fred however was not aware of this little tid bit. Apparently it had slipped our mind to break that news to him. He was all ready to go, he veered off to the right as he would if we were crossing but his humans were not following suit. Hmmmm? As we kept walking Fred was hesitant and would peer over his shoulder looking back as if to say "wait we passed it, you've gone to far, its back there"! We all chuckled as we realized poor Fred knew where we were and was expecting to get a treat at the shop and here we were passing up His opportunity.
We learned going to the drive through of this ice cream shop turned out to be not such a good idea. Fred loved it, however he could not distinguish between that drive through and ANY other drive through and to this very day our laid back Fred not just comes to life but goes bizzerk when ever we go through a drive through be it McD's, the bank... etc. What have we done?!

Purple Pooch Parade Saturday, October 22, 2011
We've all heard that being a celebrity is certainly No Walk in the Park, however for these pooches it was and being a celebrity for one day was worth it all!
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Decked out in purple, pooches and their owners march in the Purple Pooch Parade to raise money for Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center of Saratoga County services Saturday in Crongress Park. The walk, in its inaugural year, is part of Domestic Violence Awareness month.
A Beautiful Day Kayaking
On my Bucket list was a day out on the lake with my fishing Kayak, a pole (of Course) and my good pal Fred. Ok So it wasn't a fishing Kayak and I didn't have the pole but the most important thing ever was I had my good pal and faithful companion Fred with me.
Being the owner of a King Charles Cavalier has brought me such Joy. I couldn't imagine a day without them.
I knew at some point, i'd have to have a full set. But I didn't know that in the beginning.
After awhile and being so delighted with Fred, I felt much like I would imagine Jehovah felt in (Genesis 2:18) when he said " It is not good for the man to continue by himself".
Fred needed not a helper but a companion. And thus began the work of finding just the right companion. A Blenheim.
Using the internet as my source of reference I began the search. I searched local and afar. Puppyfinder.com was where I found her in the Marshfield, VT area. A Breeder this time around.
I had come to the conclusion that if I were to buy from a Breeder I had to see where they were coming from. I had read so many horror stories about puppy mills and I was not taking the risk. Even some of the advertised Breeders with sites were a bit deceiving. If you look long and hard enough you are bound to find all you need to in order to make a well informed decision.
I urge everyone to get a list of names and contact numbers to talk to previous buyers and even Google a place for BBB or such like info to see what others may be saying about a particular Breeder or even pet store. There are many out there who can be masters of smoke n mirrors who think nothing of deceiving others for a Buck. Purebred pups do not come easy on the pocketbook up front to say the least. Protect yourself people.
I am very happy to share that this family was no puppy mill and raised there pups in the midst of their home.
I believe God lead me to this home as while I waited for the Mrs. to arrive I learned that this family was also foster parents of teens. I talked very open and honestly with the Mr. and commended them for their service. Foster Parents were a great blessing to me growing up and giving a witness from one who was helped by the system was also appreciated my him. It also gave me the perfect opportunity to place some Young People Asks books. He told me himself he felt that there was a reason we had that time to spend together as I awaited the arrival of his wife.
